Psalm 73:1 says: “Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.”
We understand that God desires to be good to us. James 1:17 says: “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”
God gives us a pure heart. He washes away our sins through the blood of His Son Jesus Christ, and He gives us His Word so that we may stay free from sin and transgression. He leads us into the paths of His Word and of righteousness for His name’s sake. In other words, when this verse says God is good to Israel, to everyone who is of a clean heart, it simply means that God sent His Son to do away with the filth of the heart and the cause of the filth so that you can be pure of heart. Why? Because God wants to do you good. Isn’t that something? God wants to do you good! Though you may feel so small and insignificant in your own life and in the eyes of the world, God has been thinking about you, and He sent His Son to cleanse you so that He may do you good.
God loves you!
